I did about 12 minutes of sprint intervals. The gym is air conditioned, but I was DRIPPING. It topped out at 99 degrees today.
I deadlifted more than just the bar for the first time ever. Deadlifts are the thing I’m having the most trouble with in my new weightlifting regimen. Now that the stage of workouts I’m in only has me doing 10 reps per set, I can try to bump up the weight a bit on even the more difficult exercises.
The weight room was a sausage fest today, and I kind of liked how out of place I was. Not because I could stare at dudes, not because dudes could stare at me, but because I didn’t care if anyone was giving me the side-eye or questioning my knowledge. I could block them out and just go do my thing (it’s amazing how much more confident I am in there with a notebook to carry around. Recording your workout in a notebook automatically makes you legit.) The only thing I’m still iffy about is where I’m supposed to get the bar for deadlifts from- the squat rack? A bench press? I usually just grab whatever’s not being used but I don’t know if there’s etiquette or something.
I spent the afternoon shopping for a dress to wear to my sister’s wedding in the fall (so far unsuccessful) and now I’m going to sprawl in front of my fan and drink seltzer mixed with juice for the remainder of the sweltering hot evening.
